Handmade Leather Wallet: H-Block Derry Memorial Design

$69.68

Shipping to United States: $13.24

More than a wallet — this is a piece of lived Irish history.

Completely handmade in Ireland by a former POW, of these very same H-Blocks, each wallet is individually cut, stitched and hand-finished using traditional leatherworking techniques learned and refined over years of resilience and skill. This is not factory work — it is craftsmanship shaped by experience, patience and pride.

Made from rich full-grain leather, every piece carries its own natural grain and character. With time, it deepens in tone and becomes even more personal to its owner.

The front features a detailed embossing of the H Block memorial in Derry — a powerful symbol associated with the prison blocks of Long Kesh during the conflict in Northern Ireland. The H Blocks became internationally known during the prison protests of the late 1970s and early 1980s, particularly the hunger strikes of 1981. For many, they represent sacrifice, endurance and a defining chapter in modern Irish history.

This depiction is respectfully pressed into the leather as a mark of remembrance and identity.

The reverse carries a complementary heritage design, balancing strength with craftsmanship.

Each wallet is made to order.

About the maker:
As the years pass, fewer and fewer handcrafted pieces remain that genuinely come from the hands of those who lived through that chapter of Irish history. This wallet represents one of the last opportunities to own something made by a craftsman whose story will one day be read about in books — not as a headline, but as lived experience carried forward through skill and work. It is history shaped quietly by hand.
