The Bronze Echo is inspired by the remarkable spiral carvings found at Newgrange, one of Ireland’s most extraordinary ancient monuments.

Built around 3200 BC in the Boyne Valley, Newgrange is more than 5,000 years old — older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Its stones are decorated with mysterious spirals, circles and flowing patterns carved by people whose world we can only partly understand today.

One of its most famous features is its connection with the winter solstice, when the rising sun enters the passage and illuminates the inner chamber for a few precious minutes.

The meaning of the spirals themselves has never been definitively known, which is part of what makes them so captivating. They are often associated today with ideas such as cycles, movement, renewal, eternity and the turning of the seasons — but their true meaning remains with the people who carved them thousands of years ago.
